Running the applications and the services they depend on.
I needed a better way to run and manage my own apps,
so I started building Aurora.
Aurora is built and operated independently, on infrastructure hosted in Sweden. I manage the platform myself and take responsibility for how it runs.
Borealis is my agent for helping manage the applications in Aurora’s cluster. It’s part of how I run the platform day to day.
Lunchfindr started with finding somewhere to eat.
BoBudget came from planning a household budget.
Onovos gives these projects a place to be shared.
Each app needs somewhere to run and a way to ship changes.
Aurora brings that work together, including visibility
into usage, operations, and software supply chain security.
Running the applications and the services they depend on.
Adjusting capacity as traffic and resource needs change.
Understanding which parts of an app people use.
Seeing how applications behave and investigating problems.
Keeping platform and application security part of everyday engineering.
Reducing repeated work when building, deploying, and maintaining apps.
Keeping track of what goes into a release, from dependencies to container images. Applications are deployed with a specific image version so changes can be traced and rolled back.
I’m Oscar Andersson. I build developer platforms at scale, with experience across the Red Hat suite and Backstage. Onovos is my independent initiative.
For the last four years, I’ve worked as a Tech Lead and Lead Engineer. I care about whether the things we build help people, and how they feel to use.
Connect with me on LinkedInI prioritize work by the problem it solves for the people using it. Their experience matters when deciding what to build next.
I consider reliability and security while designing and building, then keep working on them as the software changes.
People need room to make decisions and responsibility for the results. That includes maintaining what we ship and responding when it goes wrong.
